ATLANTIC is a conventional winter oilseed rape variety from the Nickerson breeding programme in Lincolnshire. Atlantic has a similar gross output to Winner but with the advantage of higher oil content and improved disease resistance.
HIGH GROSS OUTPUT (% Treated Controls) | ATLANTIC | Winner | Escort | 103 | 103 | 94 |
| Atlantic has an excellent gross output (yield adjusted for oil content) figure 9% above Escort.
VERY HIGH OIL CONTENT | | | ATLANTIC | Winner | Escort | | % Oil Content | 45.5 | 43.6 | 42.9 | | Glucosinolate Content (micromoles/gm) | 10.6 | 10.0 | 13.8 |
| Atlantic has a high oil content ensuring high oil premiums.
AGRONOMIC CHARACTERS | | Resistance to Lodging | Rated 8, similar to Winner | | Stem Stiffness | Rated 6, similar to Winner | | Shortness of Stem | Rated 7, similar to Escort | | Earliness of Flowering | Rated 7, later than Winner | | Earliness of Maturity | Medium, rated 5 |
| Atlantic has a good all round package of agronomic features making it a safe variety to grow and harvest.
